Our Programs
Infant Intervention (Birth – 2 yrs)
Research demonstrates the benefits and value of early intervention, making the Infant Intervention program at Zareinu crucial to the development of babies with special needs. For babies and parents, this unique program includes activities and therapies directed by Zareinu’s Infant Interventionist. Two mornings per week parents participate with their child to learn and aid in developmental skills through ongoing assessments, consultations and therapies. Parents also receive emotional support during this early stage to help them adjust to their child’s needs both at school and at home. The children receive attention from Zareinu’s team of Occupational, Physio and Music Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Social Workers.
Licensed Preschool (2 yrs – 5 yrs)
Directed by Early Childhood Educators, this class offers a 2:1 ratio of students to staff, ensuring that every child is provided with intensive individual and group therapies and programs. Our Jewish curriculum teaches about the holidays, customs and traditions. Individualized math and pre-reading programs are available, as well as a preschool team of Therapists, Life Skill Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
Mild Intellectual Disability Classes (Primary Grades 1 – 3 and Junior/Intermediate Grades 4 - 8)
Like other Jewish day schools, students in this program receive half day adapted English and Hebrew classes. Zareinu’s special education teachers use a variety of innovative remedial English and math programs to assess each child’s individual intellectual and therapeutic needs. Some students’ progress is so great that they have the opportunity to be partially integrated into a Jewish day school outside of Zareinu.
Program for Children with Autism (Grades 1 - 8)
Zareinu’s highly qualified and experienced special education teachers and therapists look after the children within this program. The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) class uses applied behavior analysis in conjunction with research and supporting therapies to ensure every child reaches her/his full potential. Consultations by a Clinical Psychologist is integrated into the children’s regular schedule.
Secondary School (Ages 14 - 21 yrs)
Rich in Jewish life and diverse learning experiences, students participate in small classes with a low student to teacher ratio. Girls and boys will learn English and Hebrew with Zareinu’s Special Education Staff as well as Speech and Occupational Therapists. Depending upon their current needs, students are involved in practical prevocational and practical life skills experiences.
Specialized Community Programs (Project Outreach)
Every teacher and therapist at Zareinu has a close bond with her/his students, and is dedicated to every child’s educational needs and acceptance in the surrounding community. This is why our therapists can be called upon to provide hands-on workshops to sensitize participants to the obstacles and prejudice that our students face on a regular basis, and to promote inclusion activities within the Jewish community. Available to schools, Synagogues and other organizations, these programs can be adapted for children of any age.
